“TRANSITION THROUGH ART THERAPY” is an art exhibition about independent, self – determined individuals who have
discovered they are talented artists. By engaging in a therapeutic relationship these artists have been able to
convey their emotions and communicate through the use of integrative modalities created to meet their individual needs by setting structured objectives. Art therapy plays an important role in identifying and supporting successful transitions in these areas.
Within each individualized art directives, the art materials and process offers sensory integration that subtly implies self-regulation and skill building. Many of the art works to be displayed were created with these therapeutic interventions in mind. I found it helped reduce stress and inappropriate or disorganized behavior caused by poor sensory registration, sensory defensiveness, sensory overload, and poor praxis..
In addition to the exhibition my artworks will be presented as a reflection of my own transition process – June E. Bade M.A.. Art Therapist
